# Workflows

Note

This function is only available to the primary user. Workflow is usually setup by your Docufree contact when the site is created for your organization.

Document management is most helpful when it streamlines your business processes. In order to streamline your document-centric business processes, you need a powerful workflow application along with your document management solution. Therefore, Docufree provides a powerful business process workflow application that allows you to automate your business processes.

Workflow is a term used to describe the tasks, procedural steps, organizations or people involved, required input and output information, and tools needed for each step in a business process. In general, workflow management focuses on processes rather than documents.

  • Workflow automation allows Docufree to create a workflow model for customers to use as a way to manage and enforce the consistent handling of work.
  • A workflow engine is the component in a workflow automation program that knows all the procedures, steps in a procedure, and rules for each step. The workflow engine determines whether the process is ready to move to the next step.

The workflow tools is used to design and deploy workflows for your Docufree site.

# Non-Work Days

It is possible to specify only work days as the duration for some steps. For this to work correctly you will need to define what the non-workdays are using the Non-work days toolbar button.

By default the system is setup to recognize the following as non-workdays:

  • Saturday and Sunday
  • New Year's Day
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas
